Plastic Surgery Kills! When people think of plastic surgery, they usually think about their favorite celebrities trying to delay the effects of aging. People wanting to change the size of their breasts, stomachs, and other body parts to “look better." But what about people who need surgery? The little boy who needed his chin adjusted because he was attacked by a wild animal, or the woman whose face got smashed -which she needed to rearrange- because she was in a car crash with an intoxicated driver. Plastic surgery should be illegal for people who don't need it.

Plastic surgery is dangerous even if celebrities are doing it. For example, a wrong use of plastic surgery is when Joan Rivers did it. She did so much plastic surgery that she died from it. The famous comedienne went to the plastic surgeon to get her vocal cords checked because of her raspy voice but her throat was too closed up due to her several other surgeries and wasn't letting enough air in and out. On September 4th, 2014, Joan passed. It’s not only in adults though some young adults are trying it too. But not too much, most have realized and seen the effects so and the rates are going down. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons published data showing that the number of cosmetic surgery done for the teens have gone down over the years. 220,077 procedures in 2002, representing 3.2% of the total; there were 178,041 procedures in 2006 representing 1.6% of the total; there were 131,877 procedures in 2011 representing 1.4% of the total; there were 130,502 procedures in 2012 representing 1.3% of the total. But there are still kids who are messing up their lives worrying about looks earlier on. This is why Plastic surgery is dangerous and should be banned.

Plastic surgery can help criminals. Criminals use plastic surgery to cover their identities. There are some prisons though, which helps the prisoners get a fresh start by letting them get plastic surgery and changing their face. But it’s not good! Some criminals pay money to plastic surgeons to change their face to elude capture. They change their face and go live a normal life and whenever they do something else bad, they simply do it again. To crime and investigation.co, One criminal who used plastic surgery was a bank robber John Dillinger. John had robbed at least 24 banks and was the leader of an American gang called ‘Dillinger's Gang’. He used surgery on himself, and his partner to evade capture. This event was a good thing because soon after, there was wanted posters all over town with a $10 000 reward for his capture. Even though plastic surgery is getting used for more and more gruesome things, there's still alot of people who use it to change their look. To make them ‘prettier’. On the website Eurekalert, it says that on the ASPS annual plastic surgery statistics report, there were more than 17.7 million surgical and minimally-invasive cosmetic procedures performed in the United States in 2018! Thus proving that plastic surgery is used for changing people's faces for evading capture, for changing looks, and for some more very wrong reasons.

Plastic Surgery makes you more self-conscious. According to Eurekalert, from the more than 1.8 million cosmetic surgical procedures performed in 2018, the top five done were: Breast augmentation (313,735 procedures, up 4 percent from 2017) Liposuction (258,558 procedures, up 5 percent from 2017) Nose reshaping (213,780 procedures, down 2 percent from 2017) Eyelid surgery (206,529 procedures, down 1 percent from 2017) Tummy tuck (130,081 procedures, about the same as 2017) The Breast augmentation procedures got more and more popular along the years because people are being pressured by society to do it. People see all these celebrities like Taylor Swift, Lindsay Lohan, and even Mariah Carey had breast augmentation! People want to be like them that on Eurekalert it says: “The statistics also reveal a rise in new trends in body-shaping procedures, with a spike in non-invasive fat reduction, as well as surgeries such as breast augmentations and liposuction.” People have seen people like Cardi B and Nicki Minaj and wanted big breasts as well. These famous A-listers are some of our favorite celebrities and yet we didn't know that they got breast augmentation! There were high lifts in the number of people doing surgery. In fact, Three of the top five surgical procedures focus on the body, and in 2018, there was an increase in all three. As matter of fact, there were more than 12,000 more liposuction procedures performed in 2018 than in 2017, while breast augmentations increased by four percent. There were also surges in other body-sculpting procedures like butt augmentations and thigh lifts. These facts prove that people are made more self conscious by celebrities and plastic surgery. Therefore, Plastic Surgery can be very dangerous or self-esteem lowering, if available for the wrong people or for the wrong reasons. Now that you know some facts about plastic surgery and what its used for, what is your opinion on it? Is it a good or a bad thing? Do you recommend it to others or not?
